What is Powder?
Powder, in all its forms and types, is considered an essential part of makeup. It helps set makeup for the longest possible time, hides skin shine, prevents the appearance of fine expression lines, and gives the skin a velvety texture.
Powder comes in various forms and shades to suit all skin types and tones.
Powder types are divided into:
Loose Powder
Loose powder differs from pressed powder in that it is a fine, non-pressed powder. The coverage of loose powder is lighter than that of pressed powder because it is usually translucent.
How to Apply Loose Powder for Light Coverage:
-
Place a small amount of powder in the lid of the container and dip the brush into the product.
-
Tap the brush to remove excess product.
-
Start applying the powder to your face in gentle motions, and make sure to blend it well to achieve a natural, even look without creating lines.
-
Gradually build up the powder to achieve the desired coverage.
If you feel you have applied too much powder to your face:
Use a clean brush to remove any excess.
For Higher Coverage:
Use a sponge to increase powder coverage. First, place the sponge into the powder container without tapping off any excess, as you need that extra amount to achieve high coverage.
Then, press the sponge onto your face and start dabbing, not wiping, to ensure the skin absorbs the maximum amount of powder.
For a More Radiant Look:
Focus on applying the powder under the eyes to brighten the area, as well as on the forehead and chin to reduce shine.
Example of Loose Powder:

Compact Powder (Pressed Powder)
This type of powder contains additional ingredients compared to loose powder, such as wax and silicone. These materials help in compressing the powder into the compact form. The coverage of pressed powder is much higher than that of loose powder.
Pressed powder is available in a variety of shades to match all skin tones.
How to Apply Pressed Powder for Light Coverage:
-
Use a brush, as it helps pick up a smaller amount of product, resulting in lighter coverage.
For High Coverage:
-
Use the sponge that comes with the powder. It will give you very high coverage. After picking up the product with the sponge, dab it evenly onto your skin in small, close sections.
-
You can build up the coverage by applying more product if you want a higher coverage.

Important Steps to Consider Before Applying Powder
Before applying powder, make sure that your skin has fully absorbed all liquid products like moisturizer, primer, foundation, or concealer to prevent the powder from clumping on your face.
-
If you have dry skin:
Apply powder only to the T-zone (nose, forehead, chin) and avoid applying it to the rest of the face. This prevents your skin from looking cracked or overly dry.
-
If you have oily skin:
Apply powder all over your face, focusing on the T-zone (nose, forehead, chin) to ensure these areas stay matte for as long as possible.
Always make sure to choose a powder shade that matches your skin tone, as using a powder that’s too light will make your skin look dull, pale, or grayish.
